How FoSBR uses media

How FosBR uses media - screenshot of website, facebook, twitter, email

FoSBR communicates with different groups of people, for different reasons and in different ways. How do we use our website, Facebook, twitter and other media to get our message across and help our campaigns?

Website

Our website tells the world who we are and what we do. It gives people ways to find out about us, contact us and support us. It explains our campaigns and provides up to date news and background information about developments we think people will find interesting.

Much of the content takes the form of posts. These can be news items, or details of things we’ve done or events or meetings we’ve been to. They can also be opinion pieces letting you know what we think about things that effect our campaigns. They are categorised and tagged to help you find similar articles.

We never re-post things which have already been published elsewhere. For a number of reasons it is much better to show support (or criticise!) by writing a post. If we just wish to quickly draw attention to something, we’ll use Facebook or twitter.

Much thought has gone into organising the website so that people can find things easily, and we are always looking for ways to improve it. If you have ideas of how we can make it better, or you’d like to write a post about something you think we’ve neglected, let us know!

If you want to make sure you never miss a new post, you can subscribe here!

FoSBR uses other social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to react more quickly to news and events.

FoSBR and social media

Facebook

On Facebook we can quickly share breaking news, photos, videos, and links to new FoSBR website posts. We also publicise articles that are published elsewhere here. We will do this even if we don’t agree with the views of the author, so that we can discuss them.

If you see something that you think may be of interest to FoSBR supporters, you can post it to our Facebook page and we can then share it more widely.

Please like our Facebook page and comment on our posts to join an informal conversation.

twitter

We use twitter to publicly support our allies, direct our followers to breaking news, and to alert people about new FoSBR website posts.

We also follow many organisations to help keep us up-to-date on public transport developments locally and nationally. Many local politicians use twitter, also other rail campaigners and organisations such as WECA, Bristol City Council, Network Rail and GWR.

Follow us on twitter.

YouTube

We occasionally post videos on YouTube. We hope to do more of this when we can find the time!

FoSBR Mailing List

We have a mailing list on which subscribers can circulate information of interest to FoSBR members and supporters who have also subscribed.

See here for instructions on how to join our mailing list.

FoSBR membership

Finally, members receive a regular printed newsletter containing a round-up of news. You can browse our past newsletters here.

Or why not join us, and help us put local rail where it should be – at the core of Bristol and Bath’s transport network!
