Community Rail

Community Rail is a growing grassroots movement made up of community rail partnerships and groups across Britain, supported by the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP). They engage communities and help people get the most from their railways, promoting social inclusion and sustainable travel, working alongside train operators to bring about improvements, and bringing stations back to life.

We work with Severnside Community Rail Partnership, who cover 27 unstaffed stations across 120 rail route km, bounded by Gloucester, Bath / Freshford, Weston-super-Mare, Taunton and the Severn Estuary, including the Severn Beach line.

Severnside Community Rail Partnership run community engagement projects with Friends groups, station adopters and groups such as Incredible Edible Bristol where, on the first Friday of each month a working party travel the Severn Beach Line by train to manage station planters.

The Heart of Wessex CRP covers the beautiful 140 km route from Bristol to Weymouth, passing through Bath, Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.

Another organisation working in our area is the TransWilts CIC, who cover the route from Southampton to Oxford, including Westbury, Trowbridge, Melksham and Chippenham.
